Title: the stranger in the lifeboat
Author: Mitch Albom
Publisher: Harper
Genre: Fiction
Thank you @harper for the #gifted book. I enjoyed this one very much. Itâs thought provoking and written in such a compelling way. The words just fall off the pages effortlessly. And before you know youâre finished. This is one that will stay with you.
Three days after a fancy yacht they were aboard exploded nine survivors find themselves on a raft short on water, food, and hope. No one has come looking for them. Except for sharks. Ready to surrender they spot a man in the water and quickly pull him in the raft. Finally some hope. âThank the Lord we found you!â they proclaim. The man then whispers, âI am the Lord.â
The story is full of mystery and is narrated by one particular lonely passenger, Benji who recounts all the events in a notebook that is discovered a year later when an empty raft washes up on the island of Montserrat. Chief inspector, Jarty LeFleur, a man battling his own demons must solve the mystery of what really happened out at sea.
Rating: âïžâïžâïžâïžđ« I wasnât expecting this one to be paced on par with a thriller or mystery. I couldnât turn the pages fast enough. But some pages really made me pause and were full of wisdom and thought provoking sentiment. This would make and excellent book club pick to discuss. Readers are all going to interpret it differently and take what they want from it. It is also time to think about holiday shopping and I think this one would make an excellent pick for many readers. Out November 2nd, pick yourself up a copy!
