For this week’s #threeforthursday I’m spotlighting an author I absolutely love—Cara Bastone! She’s written quite a few books, but is best know for Ready or Not, Promise Me Sunshine, and her latest that published this past Tuesday—No Matter What. She has a finesse to writing contemporary romance that doesn’t shy away from tougher issues.
{Thank you to @prhaudio for the gifted listening copy of No Matter What by Cara Bastone. The audio is narrated by Alex Finke. Finke EXCELS at the contemporary romance genre full of emotional moments and I was so thrilled to see she was narrating another Bastone novel.}
After a traumatic accident threatens the foundations of their happy marriage—Roz and Vin—attempt to rebuild and find their way back to each other—and themselves—in this tender, slow-burn romance…
I’m going to be completely honest, it took me a bit to warm up to this story. No Matter What is a story that centers on a marriage in crisis after going through a traumatic event. For awhile it feels like too much miscommunication is going on, but I trusted the author and I’m so glad I did. As someone who has experience being around PTSD it’s actually very accurate for feelings to be bottled up and to not want to talk about things. Watching both these characters heal themselves separately then together was such a beautiful thing!
“Maybe we never really get over anything, it just becomes a part of you’re drawing, a part of your story.”
I absolutely loved the characters Roz, Vin, and Raffi. The author once again made me feel like I was in NYC. The pacing and tropes doesn’t follow a classic romance, but I know Bastone’s books are usually a little deeper and different. FOUR SOLID stars from me! Out now!
