Romance Mini Reviews

Return to Sender by Parente - {Thank you @prhaudio for the gifted audiobook narrated by Karissa Vacker.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but if Karissa Vacker narrates a book, I’m definitely listening to it!}  Ok, the good . . . this has the cutest cover and is overall an enjoyable story.  Now the bad . . .  ugh, the set up!  Who in their right mind goes on a road trip with a guy they just met!?  And not only that but brings along their teenage sister that they have custody of?  Grief. Sisterhood. Heartwarming Opposites Attract.

Not That Kind of Proposal by Victoria Lavine {I loved Victoria’s previous novel—Any Trope But You—and was excited to read this one.  Thank you @simon.audio via @librofm for the gifted audiobook.  It’s a dual POV story narrated by Will Kirk and Marie Smith.}  This is an enemies-to-lovers story with complete opposites—a hopeless romantic wedding planner and a cynical divorce attorney.  When Gracie’s boss passes away, who just also happens to be Jude’s grandmother, these characters find themselves at a stalemate over assets.  Jude is determined to sell his grandmother’s estate.  The only problem is Gracie inherited the cottage house on the property.  Oh, what a sneaky matchmaker!  I enjoyed this one!

Love Felt Like This by Julie Olivia {Thank you @prhaudio for the gifted audiobook narrated by Jorjeana Marie, Liam Cortright, and Cassandra Morris.  They transported me to the cozy mountain town in this story.  This book screams fall!}  If I’m being honest, I have mixed thoughts on this one.  Some of the story is a slam dunk five star read for me, and other parts moved at a glacial speed and bored me into the two star territory. (It’s worth noting this book is 500 pages.) We have Griffen who we’re told is grumpy, but I never really got that vibe.  He’s a single dad (secretly) and a musician who is in a slump.  Beverly is a children’s tv show producer and puppeteer. (I love a quirky character and it doesn’t get anymore original than that!)  These two end up on a variety show together and really gel.  Suddenly Griffin finds his muse.  I loved Beverly’s small town and family.  I love a good hook and this one has a pancake diner.  Yum!  Check it out when it releases 9/8!
