Audiobook Review - My Book of Days - Eric Dane

⬇️ Nonfiction November ⬇️
Nonfiction is a genre I always wish I read more of, but I’m just not as naturally drawn to it. November and the #nonfictionnovember challenge is great time to try and fix that. If you’re looking to do the same, then I have a fantastic recommendation for you that comes out this Tuesday, 11/3.
{Thank you @prhaudio for the gifted copy of My Book of Days by Eric Dane. Dane best known as “McSteamy” on Grey’s Anatomy and roles on The Last Ship and Euphoria passed away earlier this year from ALS. The book is narrated by Jacob Elordi and I thought he did a beautiful job. This is the first book being published by Maria Shriver’s imprint—The Open Field. She picked a good one.}
What to expect:
-Beautifully Written
-Reflections on his ALS diagnosis
-His youth and losing his father
-His early Hollywood days
(including his battle with addiction)
-His journey staying sober
-His acting days on Grey’s and Euphoria
-Messages for his daughters
Essentially The Book of Days will give you a look at Dane’s life and some lessons he learnt along the way he wanted to share.
I honestly knew little about his childhood and early Hollywood days facing addiction. Those parts surprised me.
ALS is a terrible disease. Eric bravely shared his story to raise more awareness for such a terrible disease. He was sure to remind people that we only have today. Not what happened yesterday. Not what will happen tomorrow. But today. Live each day as if it’s your last. Love your people. Be funny. Be loving. Be grateful. Face adversity with your head held high. My heart just breaks for his daughters and wife. (Yes, wife, because they never officially divorced and stayed best friends.)
This is a somber read, but one I highly recommend.
