I’ve been sitting here staring at the cursor on my screen because I’m finding it impossible to articulate how much I LOVE Sarah Damoff and her books.  Her previous novel—The Bright Years—was my number one favorite book that I read last year out of 250 books!

Firstly, thank you to @simonbooks for the gifted ARC.  After reading, loving, and tabbing this book up, I still had to listening to the audio when it became available.

Thank you to @simon.audio for the access.  You get three narrators for the multi POV story—Stacy Gonzalez, Timothy Andres Pabon, and Jackie Sanders.  Either way is enjoyable and a must read!

What to expect:

-Multiple Timelines

-Multiple POVs

-Characters to Love

(And Root for too!)

-Short Chapters

-Excellent Pacing

-Family Drama

-Marriage in Crisis

-Motherhood/Caregiver

-Heartbreaking, yet Hopeful

This book starts with a bang!  I love that.  I love when a story wastes no time getting to the action.  I was so invested in these characters and this story.  Sarah writes the most deeply human characters and stories.  They just feel so real.  Whether the topics are relatable to you, or one you know someone else is going through.  Very realistic.  This is a book so easy to recommend to so many readers.

April and Leo are a couple on the brink of collapse. When their house goes up in flames, family secrets and thorny histories emerge as they are forced to decide what is worth salvaging.  The Burning Side is about what we inherit and what we choose, about forgiveness and the ache of being known. It is, above all, about the meaning of home and the costs of long love.

Be on the lookout for a @bookfriendsbookclub announcement for June!
