{Thank you @simon.audio via @librofm for the gifted audiobook of The Forgotten Midwife by Laura Anthony.  The narration is the dream team of Helen Laser and Maeve Smyth!}

Short Review: Author Laura Anthony is 2 for 2 for me with her Irish Historical Fiction.  I previously loved The Women on Platform Two and give the highest praise and recommendation for both these books.

What to expect:

-Dual Timelines

(1950s Ireland & Present Day)

-Family Secrets & Tragedies

-Sisters of Mercy Nuns

-Home for Fallen Girls

(Magdalene Laundries)

-Courageous Characters to Love & Root For

(You will be so Emotionally Invested!)

-Suppression of Women’s Rights

-Heartbreaking, but Beautiful & Hopeful

Don’t skip the author’s note.  While this story was quite shocking and heartbreaking at times, the author reveals there were so many more difficult and troubling events she left out.  Historical Fiction is after all, fiction, so basing a book on a true story, requires a certain level of finesse that Anthony excels at.  You will be equal parts informed and entertained.  She knows how to balance the dark with light.  I couldn’t put this one down!
