Just For The Summer - Book Review

☀️5 Star Book Review ☀️

Title: Just For The Summer

Author: Abby Jimenez

Publisher: Forever

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Sometimes when you don’t have your shiznick together, #Fivestarfriday becomes Five.Star.Saturday! But, when it comes to ‘Just for the Summer’ by Abby Jimenez, it doesn’t matter what day of the week; this book is an absolute winner!

“Why not forgive? In a world where you can choose anger or empathy, always choose empathy”

I now understand the saying ‘Golden Retriever MMC’. Justin was perfection. Swoony. Book Boyfriend Material. He’s a guy that thinks and cares about everyone.

On the surface, Emma seems like a happy-go-lucky kind of gal. She’s a traveling nurse that displays confidence and competence in all areas of her life. But, deep down she’s dealing with some baggage. And eventually, you can’t burrow things forever, you’re gonna have to deal with it.

This book takes a fun silly theme of two characters who feel like they have a dating curse (every time they break up with someone, that person goes on to ‘find the one’ and get engaged to the next person they date!). The ‘meet cute’ was a lot of fun and modern with Justin posting a ‘Reddit’ post about the scenario and Emma DM’ing him. They start corresponding and Emma decides do take a nursing assignment in Minnesota to meet Justin. It’s a six-week assignment ‘Just for the Summer’.

Things to know…This book has some heavier themes:

▪️Neglectful Parenting

▪️Toxic Mother

▪️Foster Care

▪️Mental Illness

▪️Emotional Trauma (PTSD)

▪️Panic Attacks

▪️Anxiety

▪️Parent in Jail

However, Abby handles everything with care and the love, banter, friendships and found family balance everything perfectly. It’s a cute warm hug, and a perfect summer read. I binged this one and think a lot of people will too! Pack it in your bag ‘Just for the Summer’.

“Maybe a home isn’t a place. Maybe it’s a person.”
