The Heiress - Audiobook Review

Audiobook Review

Title: The Heiress

Author: Rachel Hawkins

Publisher: St. Martin’s Press

Genre: Domestic Thriller

Thank you @macmillan.audio for the listening copy! This one is extra special on audio because it has four narrators. Dan Bittner, Eliza Foss, John Pirhalla and Patti Murin each brought their characters to life. Especially, Ruby! I personally think the audio route is the way to go…

I love listening to audibooks on librofm

Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone. This one is all about the family drama of an extremely wealthy North Carolina family and pulling back the layers and learning some dark, dark secrets!

It starts simple enough in Colorado with Camden an English teacher and his wife Jules who have built a quiet life in a tiny little house. Then suddenly Cam’s uncle passes away and he is forced to return back home to the Ashby House in NC where he grew up. We quickly learn he is the one that actually owns it because he inherited it and her entire estate from his adopted mother, Ruby. No one else in the family likes him or thinks he should’ve gotten the house. They all are a bunch of vultures that hang around the house. Cam on the other hand doesn’t really want the house and swore he would never come back. But why? From beyond the grave Ruby narrates about every husband she ever had, how they died and how Cam became adopted.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Four solid stars. This one is really twisty and will keep you guessing and on your toes. I liked that. I really liked Ruby and her letters from the grave; she reminded me of a much more sinister Evelyn Hugo. I would be very surprised if many will guess the ending on this one!
