The Road to Christmas

---Book Review---

Title: The Road to Christmas

Author: Shiela Robertson

Publisher: Mira/Harlequin

Genre: Women’s Fiction/Holiday Fiction

“What do you need?” he asked. “To be happy. I’m not out to set the world on fire, just to make my own corner of it a better place.”

The Road to Christmas is a multigenerational tale filled with heart & humor and amazing scenery to put you in the holiday mood. The characters are all full of depth and each of them unique and different. I can’t help but wonder if the author channeled at all from her own family and if she did boy is she lucky to have such a delightful family.

The story begins at Thanksgiving where it’s obvious parents Max and Michelle are headed for divorce. They’ve been hiding it from their adult children who all live out of state. They figure they will just get through the holidays and happily and then face the music. Except, they weren’t counting on their youngest daughter Julia guilting the whole family into driving to Idaho for Christmas. She has a new baby and house and it only makes sense for everyone to come to her…

That means Max and Michelle in a car together and back sleeping the same bedroom. What could possibly go wrong with that!? Nothing at all when driving through the snow and a mountain pass from Washington to Idaho.

Then you have Max’s parent’s driving from Oregon. Grandpa Warren is quite stubborn and can totally handle this excursion on his own. Him and Grandma Hazel are having a hard time accepting that they are getting older and maybe should live closer to family and rely on help…

Lastly, you have sisters Audrey and Shyla making the trek from California. Shyla is is a relationship and absolutely smitten; probably headed for marriage like her sister Julia. Meanwhile, Audrey has been nursing a broken heart when she followed who she thought was the one out to LA from Washington. A lost hotel reservation and their car breaking down has them meeting very handsome and kind rancher. It’s almost like Santa came early!

Will they all make it in time to Julia’s for Christmas!?!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Paging Hallmark channel or Netflix. Here is your next script for a Holiday movie. Seriously! Sheila did all the work for you. Of, course, us readers know the book is always better! I know your time is limited between now and Christmas and you are going to be bombarded with Holiday book choices. This one is a clean read and definitely worth your time. Also, the author always includes recipes in the back of the book. Love that!

Thank you, again, to @uplitreads for having me on this book tour!
