{Thank you @williammorrowbooks + @librofm for the #gifted copies of The Poppy Fields by Nikki Erlick. The audiobook is a phenomenal full cast including a fan favorite—Marin Ireland!}

Author Nikki Erlick leapt onto the scene with her 2022 debut—The Measure— a @readwithjenna pick! She’s back with an equally thought provoking and creative story in The Poppy Fields. A beautiful cover, also available in a special edition, that you need to add to your shelves.

A story of healing, self discovery, forgiveness, found family, but most of all it’s a unique story on grief and curing a broken-heart.

“courage was not just running toward a crisis but also recognizing when you’d seen one crisis too many.”

In a remote stretch of the California desert, lies an experimental and controversial treatment center. It allows patients who have been throughly vetted and screened, who are grieving, to essentially be placed in a sleep induced coma for weeks and sleep away their grief and pain. They are promised to be healed when they awaken, but it’s not without side effects.

The bulk of story is a road trip of random characters who find themselves stranded at the KC airport and each headed to The Poppy Fields for various reasons. I love a good road trip story and this one did not disappoint.

This one will have you pondering how far are you willing to go to be healed. I think it would make an excellent book club pick to read and discuss with others.

“Life is juicy, and you’ve just gotta have your bite.”

Out today—6/17 and comes with my recommendation!
