The Sweetest Remedy

I loved author Jane Igharo’s first book Ties That Tether, so it was an easy pick to include in her sophomore book The Sweetest Remedy as a #mommaleighellensbookclub pick! I love books that include travel, so dare I say I loved The Sweetest Remedy even more!?

📚 BOOK CLUB BOOK REVIEW 📚

Title: The Sweetest Remedy

Author: Jane Igharo

Publisher: Berkley Romance

Genre: Cultural Contemporary Fiction

The Sweetest Remedy is full of culture, family drama, food, music, and love. Buckle up as we travel to Lagos, Nigeria with Hannah so she can attend the funeral for her father. A man she barely knew. A man she met just once when she was 8 years old. When she arrives Hannah meets her four 1/2 siblings, her grandmother, an aunt, her father’s wife, and Lawerence. But she’s already had a ‘meet cute’ with Lawrence in San Fransisco where she’s from and Lawrence was traveling for business. Is love in the air!?

Some of the family immediately takes to Hannah and some do not. It’s a shocking situation; They never even knew she existed! Will the family come together in time for the funeral? And will Hannah embrace this side of her heritage or feel like she is betraying her mother who sacrificed so much to raise her as a single parent?

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was sweet! (pun intended 😆) I fell in love with Hannah, Nigeria, and the Jolades family. This is a fast read; I read it in a day. Mostly because of the perfect flow of the story. I just love when a book has the perfect flow. Not too much. Not too little. Not too fast. Not too slow. Just right. The author nailed the emotions. I highly recommend this one on your fall TBR!
