Two powerhouse veteran authors have new books coming out today (3/10). How lucky are we!?

▪️Once and Again by Rebecca Serle — {Thank you @simon.audio via @libro.fm for the gifted listening copy narrated by the QUEEN Julia Whelan!!! Need I say more!?}

If you’re familiar with Serle’s writing I think this will be right up your ally. I’m always blown away by her magical stories full of love and deeper issues to ponder. AND she manages to do at 250 pages.

What would you do if you could just once turn back time? This is the exact gift the women in the Novak women have.

-multigenerational

-3 women with varying personalities

-family secrets

-fast moving story

-lyrical writing

-likeable characters

-beautiful father/daughter relationship

-loved the Malibu setting

▪️It Girl by Allison Pataki — {Thank you @prhaudio for the gifted listening copy. It was superbly narrated by Barrie Kreinik who is an excellent choice for historical fiction!}

Pataki has such a knack for finding unknown women in history to write about and bring a spotlight to. It Girl loosely brings to life Evelyn Nesbit, a model + muse, broadway actress (chorus girl) and one of the first ‘Gibson Girls’. Her writing has a bit of a biographical feel to me, but I think that comes from her journalism background and excellent research in her books!

-Gilded Age

-Early 1900s NYC

-Reimagined story

-Coming-of-Age

When she is only sixteen years old, Evelyn’s father passes away and she begins working at a department store to help her mother with the finances. But not long after, her striking looks catches the attention of a customer and she finds herself posing for sketch artists, becoming a muse. This leads to a big move to NYC, more portraits, a broadway career and lots of attention from men. It’s a story of rags to riches, but maybe being rich isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You will truly empathize with Evelyn. Honestly my heart really hurt for her. Another winner from Allison Pataki!
