Title: Roads of Resistance
Author: A.L. Sowards
Publisher: Covenant
Genre: Historical Fiction
Roads of Resistance is the second book in the Falcon Point Historical Series. While you could technically read it as a stand-alone, I recommend you start with the previous novel—Codes of Courage. Or even better—Heirs of Falcon Point—that is written by a collection of authors that this series spins off from.
When a historical fiction author loves the research just as much the writing, you have a winner. And Sowards is a winner! I love the details of her stories and the way she weaves multiple characters and storylines together. Her character are rich and multi-layered and you will absolutely be rooting for them! And don’t even get me started on the action in her stories—your heart will be racing in so many places. In fact, this story starts with a bang on the very first page!
I’ve read a lot of WWII books and ones involving resistance work and yet there is always more! This one took place in the Netherlands and focuses on Operation Market Garden, not a battle I’ve read much about.
If you think you adore Karl and Millie in Codes of Courage, get ready for Ingrid and Gerrit. This book isn’t without the inevitable heartbreak, but it’s well balance with hope, love, and a positive message:
“When the world has gone dark, don’t turn away from the light.”
