{Thank you @atriabooks for the #gifted copy The Incredible Kindness of Paper by Evelyn Skye. I paired it with an audiobook copy from my friends over at @simon.audio It has four narrators—Ali Andre Ali, Sarah Skaer, Zac Aleman and Jackie Sanders—and was really well done!}
I know we’re all over the moon with happiness after hearing about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce getting engaged, but if you need even more feel good moments in your life, than look no further than—The Incredible Kindness of Paper by Evelyn Skye. And if you don’t care about their news, well, if costs you nothing to be kind, which is a theme displayed over and over again in this story. Don’t yuck someone’s yum!
This book is syrupy sweet and the innocence of it has a YA feel to it. It has a coming-of-age vibe with starting over professionally, second chances in love, and figuring out just who you want to be in life.
“Can one random act of kindness change the trajectory of a life?”
Chloe and Oliver were childhood penpals. Their letters were magical. Literally. Chloe could whisper a message and Oliver would hear it. They became inseparable from 1st grade until they were teenagers when Oliver’s family quickly moved away and she never heard from him again. They called themselves Clover, were each others first loves, and Chloe was heartbroken.
Fast forward 20 years and Chloe lives in NYC. After losing her job as a guidance counselor, Chloe continues what’s she used to do for her students and folds yellow origami roses with uplifting messages hidden inside. To her surprise, her messages begin to fall into the hands of people who need to hear these words the most. This starts a movement and a cause; maybe Chloe has found her true calling.
Also in NYC, but unbeknownst to Chloe, is Oliver. When a yellow rose finds it’s way into Oliver’s hand, well, lets just say what happens next it magic!
Pick up this quick read at just under 250 pages and it will reaffirm something I truly believe in—it costs nothing to be kind! The world needs more kindness!
