Title: The Secret Book Society

Author: Madeline Martin

Publisher: Hanover Square Press

Genre: Historical Fiction

Happy Pub Day—8/26

{Thank you @uplitreads for the #gifted copy of The Secret Book Society by Madeline Martin.  Once I saw that the audiobook was narrated by Saskia Maarleveld I snagged a copy as a member of @htp_hive via @netgalley! Tandem reading is my favorite!}

Madeline Martin is such a talented writer who has a finesse in writing deeper subjects in an easily consumable way.  This book touches on women’s rights in the late 18th century of London when they weren’t allowed to read!  Can you imagine!?  Add in oppressive marriages, societal expectations, being the town gossip, abuse, and any missteps deeming them “mad” or “lunatics” and you’ll walk away from this book being very grateful to be women in this era instead.
