Title: She Didn’t See It Coming

Author: Shari Lapena

Publisher: Pamela Dorman Books

Genre: Thriller

{Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted audiobook of She Didn’t See It Coming by Shari Lapena.  It’s narrated by January LaVoy who excelled at the tension, suspicions, and pulling back the layers of this story.  Out Now!}

Shari Lapena the QUEEN of domestic suspense and bingeable reads!  I read this book in two sittings—enjoying the sunshine by my sister’s pool, then on the airplane home the next day.

Clever. Well-plotted. Unputdownable. Full of Paranoia.

Halfway through the book I thought I knew the suspect (I was wrong), then 3/4ths of the way through I changed my mind and thought for sure I had it (I was wrong again), when the final reveal came I was satisfied with the ending, but it also wasn’t mind blowing either.  I like that sometimes when the reveal is plausible, simple and not over the top!

Bryden and Sam seem to have it all.  Great jobs, wonderful friends, a nice condo, and a lovely three year old daughter.  Out of the blue, one afternoon, Sam receives a phone call that Bryden didn’t pick their daughter up from daycare.  He thinks nothing of it and assumes something came up—Bryden had a busy day of work that day.  When he arrives home to their condo, Bryden isn’t there, but her purse and cell phone are . . .

I really liked the characters of this one, especially the detective, and found this to be just what I was hoping for in a summer thriller.  For fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell and Megan Miranda.  Comes with my recommendation!
