{Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted audiobook of Buckeye by Patrick Ryan. It is phenomenally narrated by Michael Crouch!}
Please hear me loud and clear when I declare this a BOOK OF THE YEAR! It’s not often that I finish a nearly 450 page book (16 hours on audio) and I immediately want to start it again. I loved these characters and story so much!
Let me set the scene…
-It’s a quiet story.
-One that is thoughtful.
-Engrossing and realistic.
-Vivid, beautiful writing.
-Woven together brilliantly.
-Character driven.
-Multigenerational & spanning decades.
-WWII, Vietnam, and beyond.
-Small town in Ohio.
-Shines a lens on choices, messy consequences, the human spirit and redemption.
There is a lot to love and examine in this story. So look for an upcoming announcement from @bookfriendsbookclub so we can do just that!
Finally some food for thought:
“The world will always bring you back into perspective, if you only bother to let it.”
“What is it about time that confounds us? We spend it. We save it. We while it away. We waste it. We kill it. We complain about not having enough of it, or about having too much of it on our hands. We regret what we’ve done with it. We give it away. We want it back.”
