Short Review: Annabel Monaghan just doesn’t miss!  She’s 4 for 4, for me!

“When you smile at me, I feel like I want to capture it.  But, it’s not the regular way, like when I see something beautiful and I want to photograph it.  When you smile, it does something to me.  I feel it in my chest and I just want to figure out how to get you to do it again.”

Laughter is the only truth.  Okay, maybe that’s dramatic, but we need more laughter in this world and this book made me laugh and swoon!

Jane Jackson grew up on television as “Poor Janey Jakes”.  She spent her teen years as the punchline for jokes.  Now she’s all grown up and a television executive trying to be taken seriously.

During a meeting, she might have told a small little fib.  In her defense, sitting in the meeting with a former crush—turned enemy—Dan Finnegan, the cinematogropher, made her just a tad riled up.  The fib?  That she was in talks with mega pop-star Jack Quinlan (who was her first kiss and costar as a teen!) to write and perform a hit song for the movie.  The problem?  She actually hasn’t talked to him in twenty years!

Now somehow she’s agreeing to travel with Dan to his hometown because Jack is preforming at a festival there.  She’s determined to not look like a fool and get this movie green-lighted!

I loved the Long Island summer vibes in this one.  Annabel can sure set the summer scene to perfection.  Enemies-to-lovers may just be my favorite trope because it always produces the best witty bantar.  And this one delivered!  I also really enjoyed Dan’s family that they stayed with!  Good secondary characters are just as important in a story!

I highly recommend this book that is sure to be a summer hit!
