On the surface, Battle of the Bookstores, seems like a—been there done that—trope with enemy rival bookstores competing against each other. But the duo who make up, Ali Brady, flipped this trope on its head making the MMC the romance bookstore owner/romance book lover! This book is full of pop culture, witty banter, and layer upon layers to peel back to really get to know these characters. There are a few spicy parts that are well done. It also has a slight “You’ve Got Mail” theme going on with these characters unknowingly online chatting on a book site. Book nerds, romance lovers, and readers who love character growth will enjoy this!
