☀️ Pub Day Book Review ☀️
Title: Rebel Summer
Author: Cindy Steel
Genre: Sweet Romance
Happy Pub Day to the final book in the ‘Falling for Summer’ series, Rebel Summer by Cindy Steel. Thank you to author for the #gifted eARC. While this is part of a 7 book series, all the books can be read as a stand alone. What they have in common is they all take place on the same FL-no-cars-allowed-Island. Any carryover from book to book is more just like a fun Easter Egg or cameo.
Short Review:
I binge read this book in one sitting staying up until 2am to finish it!
Longer Review:
Rebel Summer is a second chance, opposites attract, enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity romance. Dax and Ivy first meet as biology lab partners in high school. She’s the daughter of the town’s mayor; he’s a kinda a bad boy who gets in trouble for pranks and stealing golf carts on the island. Through these flashback chapters, you really get to know these characters. You can easily see both of them are misunderstood and sort of playing a role of how people see them. The author sets up a great storyline about other people’s expectations of you, and finally giving in and standing up for yourself. Goals are great to have, but what if they are the wrong ones? What if where you thought you should be is all wrong?
In the present day, Ivy is back on the Island and has a mishap that results in being assigned community service for the summer to her nemesis, Dax. She ends up living next door in his rental property, working for him and lets just say magic happens…

Favorite Quote:
“Because with him, I was safe to fall. I had always been safe to fall. Safe to be less than perfect. The feeling was both addicting and liberating. There was power in feeling safe with someone—safe to make mistakes and to be completely yourself. Safe to trust someone that much.”
